The Heart of the Festival.

Like music or movement, the festival flows — guided not by rules, but by rhythm. These ten principles are the rhythm that connects us, allowing freedom, trust, and co-creation to emerge.

They’re the pulse of everything we do.
By taking part, you agree to honor these principles and carry them with you throughout the festival.
(But we recommend that you adhere to these principles in life as well.)
Principles of Total Improv
Presence.
We value direct experience and full presence in the moment, staying open to what emerges through connection.
10
Active Participation.
The festival comes alive through the active presence of each person, where everyone becomes
a co-creator.
9
Care for Space.
We aim to leave the space as we found it — or better.
8
Responsibility.
Participants act with awareness and respect for the space, each other, and the environment.
7
Co-Creation.
The festival is built through collaboration, where everyone is invited to contribute.
6
Self-Expression.
Improvisation encourages each person’s unique expression through movement, sound, voice, and presence.
5
Self-Reliance.
Each participant takes responsibility for their experience, including preparation and care for themselves and others.
4
Freedom.
Participants treat each other with respect regardless of political views, religious beliefs, or ethnic backgrounds. The focus is on the art of improvisation, which unites and creates a space of equal participation.
3
Exchange.
We exchange knowledge, practices, ideas, and creativity without expecting anything in return.
2
Openness.
Everyone who shares the values of improvisation is welcome.
